Learn How SierraGold Can Help You Comply with Ray Baum’s Act

Does your Enterprise comply with the New FCC Rules?

To help Americans reach 911 services more quickly, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) adopted two rules to implement Kari’s Law and Section 506 of Ray Baum’s Act.

If you are unfamiliar with these regulations and why they are important to you, please visit the FCC website for detailed information.

FCC 911 Requirements

Pinpoint Extensions down to the Exact Cubical

Multi-line Telephone System

Section 506 of Ray Baum’s Act dictates that enterprises operating a multi-line telephone system (MLTS) must provide a dispatchable location with every 911 call.

Using SGWeb, now known as SierraGold by SAI™ InPut, you can pinpoint the location of any telephone extension down to the exact office or cubical location.

SierraGold InPut delivers the 911 Call’s Origin

SierraGold InPut is a web-enabled, organizational databases you can use to easily define your company structure by division, cost center, department, location and telephone extension. InPut is designed to receive data from a variety of true sources such as Active Directory or any LDAP application.

By connecting each extension listed in this database to an office or cubical location, you have the ability to locate where a 911 call originates.

This information can be useful in two ways.

Feed Your E911 Provider

Telephone and location data from SierraGold InPut feed directly into an external E911 database from providers such as SPOK or Intrado, among others. SierraGold by SAI™ customers are already taking advantage of this valuable feature to comply with 911 regulations.

E911 providers ensure calls are routed to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) based on the caller’s physical location obtained from InPut. Using this information, the E911 provider can automatically display the telephone number and physical location of the 911 caller on the emergency operator’s screen.
